Paris Motor Show 2010: Suzuki Kizaschi Sport

Oct 14, 2010

During the Paris Motor Show this fall, the Japanese from Suzuki released two models on the European market. The two novelties are Kizashi Sport and Swift. Suzuki is a very ambitious project, being a powerful fighter in the automobile battle. Although we cannot say that it has a particular expertise in the field, the Japanese brand promises to become the best in the world of prosperous but in the same time demanding mid-class sedan range. Defined as a premium sports variant, Suzuki Kizaschi Sport combines comfort, fineness and dynamics in a harmonious way, never encountered before at Suzuki. Moreover, Suzuki Kizaschi Sport is considered to be a new frightening rival for Opel Insignia and Volkswagen Passat. The Japanese sedan has average exterior dimensions (for its range): 4.650 mm length, 1820 mm width and 1480 mm high. Thus, from this point of view, it cannot defeat its competitors. Based on a previous model with the same denomination, Suzuki Kizaschi Sport displayed at Paris Motor Show 2010 an innovative design that combines sporty elements, in the front line of the vehicle, with an imposing and robust rear side. The interior emphasizes the manufacturers’ passion for premium elements, these becoming a truly obsession both in the case of the exterior and interior. Moreover, Suzuki team characterized its interior as being proportionate and practical, equipped with high-quality elements and designed in such a way that even the most demanding customer would be satisfied. Kizashi is available with full i- AWD four-cylinder, a single engine type-a 2.4 liter unit which...

Video: Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima – Pikes Peak International Hillclimb

Failed to improve the record time set by himself in 2007 (10:01:408), but Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima still got the victory in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb completing the ascent of the mountain in 10’11″490, 28 seconds faster than Paul Dallenbach on a prototype Chevrolet and 55 seconds faster on Rhys Millen in a Hyundai RMR JE09. Nobuhiro Monster Tajima showed disappointment at not breaking the barrier of 10 minutes, despite “the car went really well. I’m faster.” The Japanese driver raced at the wheel of a prototype bodywork inspired by the Suzuki SX4, weighing  1,190 kgs and equipped with a 3.1 V6 twin turbo 900 bhp and 890Nm torque. The new Swift has not adopted major changes for the design, the new model remains mostly unchanged. Still, the main differences can be observed in the front, where Suzuki has implanted a new set of optical blocks, and a redesigned grille and bumper. Inside, the Swift has now a more dynamic design and quality materials. Black remains the basic color, but the Japanese added some silver inlays to animate it a bit. The new generation has grown considerably in length, with approximately 90 mm to 3850 mm in total. The same phenomenon is observed and the wheelbase, which increased by 50 mm to 2430 mm. The new Suzuki Swift has become wider, which means that on the road should do at least as good as its predecessor launched in 2005. A special contribution to this will also be brought by the larger tires. Under the bonnet we will find a new 1.2 liter petrol engine with Dual VVT technology able to deliver up to 94 horsepower at 6000 rpm and a torque of 118 Nm at 4800 rpm. The numbers are somewhat better than for the old 1.3-liter engine and we also get a reduced consumption, with only 4.1 litres/100 km. Emissions are reduced by 24 g/km to 116...

Suzuki Grand Vitara and SX4: acid test on Snow and Ice

Who drive a four-wheel car to the snow just for fun, can also snow and ice conditions remain cool, they say. 4×4 is really better? We tried it – in an exclusive safety training with the Suzuki SX4 and the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Out on the runway and into the fun: When to call a man who is 1.90 meters tall, with good sturdy shoes, a 90-second intervals in high spirits and grinning from ear to ear broadest Bavarian speaks, then you have it all expected to do with Niki Schelle (43). And the fun does not take place on two boards, but on four wheels. Four driven wheels, to be exact. Motorsport fans is the name clamp familiar: Since 1986, Niki mix successfully with the rally circus. In 2002 he started the first time for Suzuki in the Junior WRC, won his eighth straight away.
