Ford Mustang Turbodiesel comes to Europe!

Apr 8, 2010

The globalization started by Ford with the Fiesta model and the new generation of Focus will be followed by one of the sacred monsters: the famous american muscle car Ford Mustang. Ford plans to build a future Mustang that has the same shape everywhere, the difference will be the engine. The Mustang for Europe’s will have a diesel engine, strategy chosen to attract European customers for the U.S. model. According to preliminary data, the main contender should be wide Mustang 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine which we find on Jaguar XF and XJ at this moment. This engine develops 270 hp and 600 Nm, and gives a bigger performance while consuming less than a V6 or V8 on petrol. Mustang‘s arrival in Europe would not be a surprise, Chevrolet announced two months ago that will launch the new Camaro on the old continent in the year 2011. It remains to be seen if a diesel Mustang will not be able to eclipse sales of the Camaro that will be available exclusively on gasoline. Easter Surprise: Microsoft teams up with Ford!

Here’s an interesting thing: a guy in our team is also a fan of Microsoft and its programs so we’ll bring today a project soon to be made by this huge IT god: Microsoft launches for Ford an online application that tells you when it’s best to recharge your electric car! Microsoft and Ford launched a new partnership where the company led by Steve Bllmer has developed a free online aplication for the load management of electric cars, says The Independent. In a few years when electric cars will be seen everywhere, such a program will be useful to avoid overloading the network at peak times and also will help drivers giving them precise data about the costs of using the car. The application is based on the “Hohm” platform made by Microsoft and keeps an eye on the energy consumption helping the driver choose the best time when to “fill the tank” on his electric car. Now, these cars are just beginning to emerge, but ten years from now the electric grid is expected to feel more and more that it also loads some 300 hp vehicles. Thus, the application will help drivers take advantage of moments when the network is not too busy and will also enable them to see the loading stage of their toy from a remote machine, that’s right, the application also works on a smartphone! The application will also provide data for the energy suppliers helping them manage the peak periods better. Ford said it will launch five electric cars by 2013. The electric version of the Focus will be launched in 2011, and the application developed in...

The bad news is that this version will have some serious competition: will reach 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds, with just 0.1 seconds earlier than the VW Golf R , a car that has 80 horsepower less, but 4 wheel drive. The launch of the new Ford Focus RS500 is tomorrow, but till then you can see this short teaser while the car was tested in Lommel at night, the playground of Ford in Belgium. The reason this car is seen racing in the dark has its meaning: this version will be available only in matte black paint with black rims. Only 500 units of this black night will be created as the name: RS 500 also mentions!
