BMW announced in a press release that it will start producing the X1 model in China, together with it’s partner: Briliance Auto. BMW started producing cars in China 3 years ago when the factory owned by Auto Briliance began assembling the BMW 3 Series. Some months ago, BMW announced it had stopped production in China to improve the assembly line for 3 Series, but apparently it was revamped also to assemble the X1. Norbert Reithofer (CEO BMW) said they would assemble x1 and 3 Series models in China just because these models are very requested by the chinese market and have no plan to relocate production to China to reduce costs. Hard to believe this third-party statement, considering that competitors from Volkswagen and Audi announced they have started construction of 6 assembly plants in China to cope with market demand. It is clear that all producers are interested in cheap labor in China and in these moments when the auto industry doen’t work that well, the best solution is to lower the cost and increase the production profit. BMW presented the first images of the Z4’s version of competition. The development of a 480 hp 4.0 liter V8 engine derived from that of the M3 and is equipped with a six-speed sequential transmission. Germans at BMW have unveiled the official pictures and technical details of the competing versions of the Z4‘s, which receives the suffix GT3. This model is based on the current generation BMW Z4 E89 and is equipped with 4.0 liter V8 engine that is equipped M3 E92, modified to develop around 480 hp. Price of this model is 298,000 euros (~427,000$). The V8 of this model is equipped with ECU unit 408, which helps develop special performances and other control devices are controlled by Power400 unit. Z4 GT3’s transmission is a six-speed sequential and is developed for motorsport. First team that will present the car for competition BMW Z4 GT3 is Schubert Motorsport. Images attached to this article were made at Paul Ricard circuit, during preliminary tests to set the model of competition based on Z4. For now, those from BMW have announced the possibility of launching a street version of this model, but this is not necessarily excluded, the best example being BMW M3 GT3 and its street version – M3 GTS. American tuner Active Autowerke presented a tuning kit for BMW M3 E92 Coupe. BMW M3 Coupe modified by Active Autowerke is not so different from the model series at first glance. Still easy to see front spoiler with carbon fiber spliter, ADV1 20-inch wheels, rear bumper with carbon fiber loudspeaker and carbon fiber trunk drinkable. Technical modifications include an exhaust system designed by German tuner, a short shifter, KW suspension and higher performance software for the injection system. The M3 Coupe develops 458 horsepower, 38 more than in version number.
