A Toyota, a Hyundai and a car from an obscure Chinese brand dominates the Top 12 Best Selling Cars in 2011 worldwide. The year 2011 brought dramatic twists of position in the ranking of the world’s best selling cars. Even if the leader Toyota Corolla remained the same, its supremacy was attacked by models which a few years ago were not even found in the first 15 cars in this top. TOP 12 Best Selling Cars in 2011 According to the annual rankings made by Forbes USA, Toyota Corolla managed to remain on the first place in sales in 2011 as the best selling car, despite the huge problems in which the Japanese brand has been in the last two years. Thus, Toyota Corolla has “survived” the recall wave in 2010 and the natural disaster that hit Japan in March that affected the Japanese brand production throughout the year. The Corolla – model produced in 15 different countries and sold in no less than 140 markets decreased by 2% in sales compared to last year, but managed to cross over a million units sold. Volkswagen introduced the series version of the new Passat Alltrack, which it’s linking the mid-class Volkswagen range models and SUVs like VW Tiguan. Volkswagen Passat Alltrack will fight in the mid-range sw segment which have become crossovers, niche approached so far by only a few car manufacturers. Basically, the new Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is in competition just with Peugeot 508 RXH and Audi Allroad. Given the fact that its smaller brothers, VW Polo and VW Golf, already have “Cross” versions, it was time that the German mid-range iconic model also to receive the same treatment. Audi A1 quattro will be produced in a limited edition, which develops 256 HP. The model will be built in 333 units. Audi has officially confirmed the entry into production of the new A1 quattro. The 2012 Audi A1 quattro will be built in a limited series production of 333 units, all painted in metallic White Glacier. The inspiration behind this model comes from Audi A1 Clubsport quattro concept presented at Worthersee 2011. The 2.0-liter TFSI turbo engine develops 256 HP (259.5 PS, 200 Kw) and 350 Nm (258 lb/ft) and it is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
