After the double victory at Le Mans in June 2009 this year, Peugeot intends to defend the title. The fourth and final year of use of the 908 HDi FAP Team Peugeot Total has already started on the day after his victory last year, the development work to improve the car further. With tests and races on different tracks will be the works team on the 78th Output of 24 hours of Le Mans to prepare. Peugeot Sport will use three vehicles. Another car is serviced by the Oreca team to complete the 908 in the Le Mans Series.
Eleven pilots are for Peugeot in use. Last year’s winner Marc Gené (E) and Alexander Wurz (A) and newcomer Anthony Davidson (GB) drive the car with the # 1st The 908 HDi FAP with the number 2 is controlled by the french trio Nicolas Minassian, Stéphane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny. The third cockpit share a native of Le Mans, Sébastien Bourdais, who together with his living in the United States compatriot Simon Pagenaud and takes up the portuguese Pedro Lamy. Bourdais and Lamy had already in 2007, teammates in the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. Reserve driver Christian Klien, while ascended Grégory Guilvert as winners of the THP Spider Cup 2009 as test driver.
As a first race for the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP has a 12-hour race at Sebring in Florida selected. Two vehicles are used to the squatting Davidson / Gené / Wurz and Bourdais / Lamy / Minassian. The second part of the preparation includes a dress rehearsal for the entire team and three cars race at Spa-Francorchamps, which counts for the Le Mans Series. There are also a total of eleven tests.
Peugeot is preparing simultaneously already in the second half of the season at Le Mans. Two more races are currently in the program of the 908 HDi FAP: the round of the Le Mans Series at Silverstone in September and – subject to confirmation by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest – the race in Shanghai in China as part of the InterContinental Le Mans Cup.
In parallel to the long-range program Peugeot offers other customer programs for experienced riders and amateurs. These include the series “Peugeot 207 Super 2000” and “Valance 207“, the only rally Markenpokal that will be fought on different track surfaces. The calendar includes four gravel-and four asphalt events. The most popular competition series in France for over 30 years of racing has become the Rencontres Peugeot Sport. The series includes four categories: THP Spider Cup, 206 relay, 207 relay with the 207 LW, the lightweight version of the 207 RC and 207-THP Cup.
