Dakar 2011 will take place again in Argentina and Chile

Despite rumors announcing a potential return to Dakar Rally in Africa for the 2011 season, rally officials have announced that its 2011 edition will take place in Argentina and Chile.

2011 edition of the Dakar Rally will be held for the third consecutive year, also in Argentina and Chile. Rally will take place between 1 and 16 of January 2011 and will have both your start and finish in Buenos Aires. The organizers will unveil details on April 29, 2010. Dakar Rally took place 29 times in Africa during 1979-2007 and changed the continent in 2008 because of security concerns.

“It is a great pride for our country to host again Dakar Rally. As you know, a few weeks ago, Chile has suffered one of the toughest earthquakes in history. I want to thank those of Amaury Sport Organization for their help and flexibility presented in the discussion” said Carlos Enrique Meyer, Argentina’s Secretary of State issues travel.

Rally director, Etienne Lavigne, announced that consider an eventual return to Africa at a time. For now though, this is not taken into account by the rally organizers.
