The Bahrain Grand Prix has been officially postponed (due to numerous conflicts between street protesters seeking political reform and security forces), but it is uncertain whether it will be rescheduled at the end of the year. The 2011 F1 season starts in Australia on March 27.
“We felt it was important for the country to focus on issues of national interest. Bahraini priority is to overcome the tragedy and to discover the structure that pushes the country forward again to remind the world what Bahrain is capable as a united country,” said Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the prince of Bahrain, in a press release.
Following this decision, the 2011 F1 season starts on March 27 with the Australian Grand Prix. Bahrain Grand Prix could be rescheduled in November between the races from Abu Dhabi and Brazil, which could lead to offset the end of the season for early December.
Since the race in Bahrain is canceled, scheduled tests in this country from 3-6 March will also be canceled. Instead, they will make a new test session in Barcelona on 8-11 March.
