Volvo wanted to prove to everyone that its trucks are capable of stunts. This is the main reason for for the two-wheele driving of one of its most popular trucks: Volvo FH.
To promote its range of trucks, Volvo has launched a campaign dubbed “Reality Road”, a TV series of eight episodes, conducted over three weeks. Swedes aim was to demonstrate the qualities of Volvo trucks and attract an audience as possible.
For this, the new clip of the series “Reality Road“ tries to do one of Volvo trucks only go on two wheels. Stunt will be part of the video artist Mapei and was conducted on a test track near Berlin.
Peter Pedrero, stunt coordinator, made sure that all lead to the lifting details Volvo FH truck on two wheels: the ramp was 12.5 meters long, 140 cm tall and had an inclination of 30 degrees. All this equation has been possible to raise the truck at an angle of 45 degrees. They took several attempts and disabling the safety systems, which prevented such a risky maneuver.
At the wheel was stunt driver Walter Melis, one of the most renowned experts in the world on two wheels driving. “To drive on two wheels in a truck is one of the most difficult things you can do. I have to concentrate fully when driving because I actually keep the truck in equilibrium, with my own weight – almost instinctively lead“ says Walter Melis.
