Mercedes GLA – the First Video announcing the design of the production version

After revealing Mercedes GLA Concept at the Motor Show held in Shanghai in the spring of this year, Mercedes is increasingly determined to provide the public an SUV eager to fight with Audi Q3 and BMW X1. German manufacturer is now ready to reveal a production version of the future GLA and promises an official launch this autumn at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Expected to be presented in world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show, scheduled in early September, the new 2013 Mercedes GLA borrows many design lines from the concept with the same name presented at the Shanghai Spring Salon. Basically, the new GLA will only be a A-Class with a slightly higher ground clearance, body protective elements and, most likely, a new carrier of the 4Matic all-wheel drive.

To attract audiences, but also steal customers of already popular models, Mercedes will opt for a bold design, extremely aggressive, influenced by the one of the A-Class. There will be wider fenders, tailgate-mounted spoiler, front grille with only two chrome wands and an interior very similar to what drivers had in the Mercedes A-Class.

Under the bonnet we expect finding the same engines as in the CLA range, B-Class and obviously the A-Class. Some examples include a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 120 HP, a 2.0 liter with 210 hp, and two diesel units: a 1.8 liter with 134 hp and a 2.1-liter with 168 hp.

Some say, we should not be surprised seeing some Renault engines on the new 2013 Mercedes GLA, given that the A-Class and B-Class have already adopted the 1.5-liter Renault dCi.
