The Mercedes stand from Geneva Motor Show hosted two very interesting releases. Dedicated to sports car fans as well to those who want in their garage a “normal car”, the Mercedes brand attracted journalists and fans as a magnet.

The first major premiere is the new generation 2012 Mercedes A-Class. Farewell, subcompact minivan! Welcome, true compact! A-Class as we know it has lost its famous lines, Mercedes going directly to attack the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 and Volvo V40.

The fight in this segment is announcing very interesting in the next year, as all four models managed to attract many fans at the 82nd edition of Geneva Motor Show.

The 2012 Mercedes A-Class codenamed W176, joins the line of the Mercedes-Benz range and keeps many elements of the concept that foreshadowed the production model.

Under the 2012 Mercedes A-Class bonnet we found a 1.6 liter turbo petrol engine with 122 (91 kW / 124 PS) – A180 or 156 horsepower (116 kW / 158 PS) – A200 or a 2.0 liter 211 hp (157 kW / 214 PS) which is denominated A250. Diesel fans can count on a 1.8-liter engine of 109 (81 kW / 111 PS) – A180 CDI or 136 hp (101 kW / 138 PS) – A200 CDI and the A220 CDI animated by a 2.2 liter engine that develops 170 hp (127 kW / 170 PS).

A number of 2012 Mercedes A-Class variants were present at the stand equipped with latest technology. We were captivated by the new Digital DriveStyle App, which allows iPhone owners to manage all vehicle systems through the Siri virtual assistant.

The second member of the Mercedes-Benz range presented in Geneva is the new 2013 Mercedes SL63 AMG, the performance version of the new SL generation. Under the bonnet we’ve found a 5.5-liter V8 turbo engine that develops 537 horsepower (400 kW / 544 PS) and 800 Nm (590 lb/ft). If that’s not enough for you, AMG provides another performance kit called AMG Performance Package, which takes power and torque to 564 bhp (421 kW / 572 PS)and 900 Nm(664 lb/ft).
