While Fiat introduced the new 2012 Fiat 500L, Fiat 500C by Gucci and the 2012 Fiat Punto, Lancia brought a four-wheel drive version for Thema and the new Flavia Convertible. Jeep and Alfa Romeo didn’t bring any novelties.
After 500C, Fiat is preparing to expand its iconic model range again. The smallest Italian model will benefit from a family-designed version, code-named L0. The series version will replace the old Fiat Idea and will be called Fiat 500L, respecting tradition names on the Fiat range.

2012 Fiat 500L presentation
Fiat brought at Geneva Motor Show the new 2012 Fiat 500L, a crossover model that combines the MPV, SUV and small class in an attempt to defy the conventional differences between these segments and to offer the best parts from each “world”.
The 2012 Fiat 500L will debut on the European market in the last quarter of 2012 and will be launched with three engines: a 1.3-liter Multijet II, a TwinAir of 0.9 liters and a 1.4 liters MultiAir.
The L suffix in the name of the new model stands for Large and this is reflected in the external dimensions of the new Italian crossover. 2012 Fiat 500L has a length of 414 centimeters (163 inches) and 178 centimeters wide (70 inches), while the height of the new model is 166 centimeters (65.3 inches).
Dimensions of the 2012 Fiat 500L qualifies it to fight with models like Nissan Juke, Kia Venga, Kia Soul and other segment B crossovers. Despite the similarity with Panda, 500L is a half meter (16.7 in) longer, which will be felt in terms of interior space.
2012 Fiat 500L is intended to provide a distinct alternative to traditional B and C segments for consumers who need a model with five seats that offer reduced fuel consumption without giving up the interior or style.
