2012 Ford Focus Electric into series production

Ford started to produce the series version of the new Ford Focus Electric. The model has a maximum range of 100 miles (160 kilometers) and costs of $ 39,995 in the United States of America.

Ford began production of Focus Electric, a model which has an autonomy of between 70 (112) and 100 miles (160 kilometers). The battery available on 2012 Ford Focus Electric is charging in just over three hours at a 240 volts outlet, two times faster than a Nissan Leaf, as Ford claims. Nissan Leaf has a declared range of 100 mi (160 km). Unlike Chevrolet Volt, Ford Focus Electric is equipped with an internal combustion engine to charge the battery.

The starting price of 2012 Ford Focus Electric on the United States market is $ 39,995, as much as Chevrolet Volt but higher than Nissan Leaf. The electric Nissan costs $ 35,200.

Customers receive a discount of $ 7,500 from the state budget which automatically reduces the price of each “green” model.

2012 Ford Focus Electric is offered in one equipment version, only the leather upholstery is on the options list, together with the two-tone paint.

The standard model has MyFord Touch system with 8-inch display, two 4.2-inch LCD screens (configurable by the driver), 17-inch alloy wheels, chairs from recycled materials, reversing camera with rear parking sensors, air conditioning particle filter, audio system with nine speakers, navigation system activated by voice and many more.

The first electric model from Ford has debuted in December 2010 when the American manufacturer has launched the Transit Connect Electric light commercial vehicle developed with Azure Dynamics.

Ford Focus Electric

In 2012, Ford will launch two new “electrified” models: Ford C-Max hybrid and Ford C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid (petrol + electric). The future C-Max Energi will have a full autonomy of 500 miles (800 kilometers) and will be more efficient than Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid.
