DriveClub – Newest Car Game for Sony PlayStation 4

Feb 22, 2013

Today Sony held a press conference and presented new PlayStation 4 specification along with DriveClub, the newest car game built for this console. We were limited to the technical side of the product and we did not have any access to the device itself. The market launch of PlayStation 4 will be during the holiday season, starting in November 2013. But first let’s see what car games for PlayStation 4 we will have on this gaming platform. Among other games presented at the PlayStation Meeting we had a glanse at DriveClub, a racing game developed by Evolution Studios, who also created MotorStorm series. Created in collaboration with people who have worked at some of the most important Sony PlayStation racing games such as Formula 1, Gran Turismo, MotorStorm, WipEout, Project Gotham Racing, GRID 2 or WRC – the game promises the most realistic car control ever. DriveClub is a game especially developed for Playstation 4 and both will be launched by Sony later this year. The...

Review: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 3

Review: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 3

Nov 28, 2010

With Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 EA wants to return to the roots of the Need for Speed series. Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit was in 1998 the first  game from the series, the reference to the classics in the name. With Hot Pursuit in any case comes back the exotic cars and the high speed police chases. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit: graphics and controls The developers of the Burnout series, Criterion, are responsible for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010. This is evident already at the picture that looks good both in motion and on screenshots – and strongly reminiscent of Burnout (no surprise, since in both cases we have to thank to the Criterion-Engine). On the first screen shots, which are very likely to play video, one sees a lot of motion blur and depth, shadows and textures speak but for 720p video games – without anti-aliasing, at least on the vehicles, the distinctive aliasing. But the control of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 goes toward Burnout. The cars move very...

Video: How the game WRC 2010 was created

WRC 2010 manufacturers explained how the official game of the World Rally Championship was made, video game that will be released in September. About two weeks ago, Black Bean Games announced that they´ve secured the World Rally Championship rights to bring a new WRC game to gaming consoles and the PC. Black Bean Game’s first WRC title is set to arrive on the Playstation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC in September 2010. The title will be developed by Milestone who claimed to want to match Codemasters recently-released Dirt 2 rally game. Given the fact that Dirt 2 isn’t exactly the most realistic rally title, it remains to be seen whether or not the new WRC title will be a true simulation that can replace the aging but still excellent Richard Burns...

VIDEO: Gran Turismo 5 Trailer tease

One of the unfortunate truth’s about the blockbuster racing game Gran Turismo 5 is that, if it were a spouse in couple’s therapy, its mate would almost certainly describe it as “distant” and “uncommunicative.” Other than a few updates here and there (some from series creator/director Kazunori Yamauchi, some not), the gestation of the latest and rumored-to-be greatest installment in the groundbreaking franchise has been kept under more wraps than a sumo wrestler attending a toga party where deep-fried Double Downs are merely the appetizers. However, with the...

Colin McRae Dirt 2 – Game Review

Colin McRae Dirt 2 – Game Review

Mar 10, 2010

Colin McRae Rally series, in my view, is maybe the dominant name in the “rally game“. When I say that ,I think of Colin McRae Rally 2.0, the pixeled graphic, but with a unique feeling, the sound engine very successful in its time, with an inspection to pique your training. I think of the CMR 2005, with a nice graphics, many machines, a pretty good damage (but not so attentive with details as the CMR 04) and a “career” (as a game mode). I think at Dirt, who renamed the series, one with excessive demands for his time, with no snow, but the presence of a rally raid, which, I remember not to be seen than to CMR 2. Only with successful titles made in the past, Codemasters couldn’t come only with something new, as usual, but still to respect the tradition (?). Storyline: lack of a story in itself brings a less. There is no particular story to follow in the game, as in previous titles. We are faced with a menu that reminds of Grid (menu style, nickname you...

Need for Speed: Shift – the Rebirth of a Legend? – PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360

Need for Speed: Shift – the Rebirth of a Legend? – PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360

Mar 1, 2010

Hardly any other game series has seen so many ups and downs like Need for Speed. Grandiose beginnings, repeatedly dips, some design changes, and now and then reboots and successes. Experiments, such as the somewhat mixed picture ProStreet went pretty much in the pants and the latest offshoot called Undercover was more underground. EA has responded and pressurize the latest part of an external studio: Slightly Mad. Tells a little at first, but behind Exmit employees by Blimey and SimBin to put who worked on titles such as GTR and GT Legends. Which naturally raises the expectations, but also the confusion in what direction the series is now like. The heart of Need for Speed: Shift is the career mode, where you have to hold you once more as a young driver to make the final in the big leagues, named NfS World Tour ride. In the first race at the wheel of a car is used to determine which settings are for you, for now the right ones. Of course, things like driving aids and AI difficulty can...
