Volkswagen Amarok Canyon Special Edition has a new ambassador: it’s about Felix Baumgartner, the Austrian who jumped from the stratosphere in 2012 to set a new world record for skydiving.
In March last year, Volkswagen launched at the Geneva Motor Show the Amarok Canyon concept. A few months later, at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover, the Germans came back with a production version for Volkswagen Amarok Canyon.

From then until now, the German automaker improved the new Volkswagen Amarok Canyon model with a range of special accessories. This month, however, the newest accessory is called Felix Baumgartner. Yes, that Felix that became a world hero after his jump from the stratosphere (38,969.3 meters / 127,852 feet).
Volkswagen turned to the world record-breaking Austrian, but also two other athletes to promote the Volkswagen Amarok Canyon Special Edition. Felix Baumgartner is the Volkswagen Group ambassador since March 2013 and recently became the image for the Amarok model, promoting it worldwide with various campaigns staged by the Volkswagen Sales & Marketing Division.
“The Volkswagen Amarok Canyon is a cool off-roader with a fair price, which we can take up on any adventurer, therefore, in our opinion Felix Baumgartner is the ideal ambassador for this campaign,” says Ramsis Moussa, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
Joining him is Hannah Whiteley (British) Kitesurfing Freestyle champion, and Thomas Litscher (Czech) the Cross-Country world champion with the Merida Biking team.
Volkswagen Amarok Canyon is based on the Trendline version of the model, supplemented with protection panels, a roll-bar and 17-inch wheels. This special edition also features optical blocks on black background, a black spoiler, some auxiliary lamps and a trailer body protection. To individualize the best the somewhat new Volkswagen Amarok Canyon, the Germans announce that it will be available and with exclusive Cooper Orange paint.
Volkswagen Amarok Canyon interior: partial leather seats, two-tone upholstery, contrasting stitching and chrome accents.
Under the bonnet will find two diesel engines in the 2.0-litre power versions: 140 horsepower turbo and 180 horsepower twin-turbo. Both will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a four-wheel drive system (4MOTION).
Volkswagen Amarok Canyon price will start from EUR 41,120 ($56,000 / £35,000) for the base version and has CO2 emissions of 194 g/km.
