Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid – Engine & Design
The Japanese did not provide much information about the new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid model, preferring to wait for the first press day at the New York exhibition.
The hybrid system is an evolution of the original system used for the Hybrid Tourer concept, which was exhibited at the Tokyo Auto Show 2009. Subaru Hybrid Tourer concept has 2.0-liter direct injection engine and two electric motors that were installed one on the front axle and delivers 10kW (13,4 hp) and one on the rear axle 20 kW (26.8 hp).
Technologies like the start-stop system and brake energy recovery will not miss. Also, to preserve unaltered the off-road claims of the model, Subaru will complete the hybrid system with the services of the famous all wheel drive system – Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
The first Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid images released by the Japanese car manufacturer betrays not too many aesthetic changes compared to the standard version.
Along with the new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru will exhibit in New York a mysterious concept, in a world premiere. The official Japanese press release states that the prototype will be a performance one, which makes us think that we could see the first anticipation of the next generation Impreza WRX.
