Paris Motor Show 2010: Chevrolet Captiva Facelift

The new Chevrolet Captiva SUV has been disclosed at the Paris Motor Show 2010 with a new design, a series of optimized interior details and a new range of engines and transmissions.

Chevrolet Captiva Facelift preserves the advantages of a flexible interior arrangement (amphitheater mode) which allows the transportation of up to seven passengers.

In terms of design, the changes are obvious: a new, sculptural and sharp bonnet, an innovative larger radiator grille, the Chevrolet logo being placed in its middle, bold headlights and turn signals embodied in the exterior mirrors. Oriented toward the front fenders, the air vents now have a sharper shape, the designers wishing to highlight the sportive character of Chevrolet Captiva Facelift. The profile of the car is truly attractive, defining its elegant ascending traits.

The beauty of the Chevrolet Captiva’s body is intensified by the new range of exterior colors and also by the proeminent wheel arches which permit the use of rims with dimensions of 17 and 19 inches.

On the other hand, major changes can be observed under the hood of the new Chevrolet Captiva Facelift. There are available four powerful engines, all equipped with a new range of manual or automatic transmissions with six-speed gear box to increase power and have a smooth ride. Moreover, Chevrolet Captiva is available with a gasoline engine of 2.4 or 3.0 liters and two turbodiesel variants of 2.2 liters. By introducing the innovative V6 gasoline engine releasing 258 bhp, equipped with a direct injection system, the new Chevrolet Captiva will be one of the most powerful compact SUV on the automobile market. Furthermore, the two 2.2-liter diesel units, equipped with turbocharger and common rail injection system will develop 163 or 184 bhp power. The 2.4-liter gasoline unit completes the new range of engines, developing 171 bhp. Both 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine and 2.4-liter gasoline version can be ordered with front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

Chevrolet Captiva’s new chassis has been adapted to increase the dynamism of the vehicle and also to improve the cornering performance. Chevrolet Captiva Facelift provides an optimum safety level being equipped with standard electronic stability control system (ESC), traction control system (TCS), Brake Assist (BAS) and airbags for all passengers.

The driver and the rest of the passengers will feel great in a generous interior space, with storage facilities among the most appreciated in its class and two configurations: five to seven seats. The stylish interior comes with a large number of new finishes and materials, including the up-to-date upholstery dressing the seats and the interior decorative elements, with a luxurious appearance and a pleasant texture to touch. The design engineers have effectively used some of the elements seen in other Chevrolet models, such as ice blue ambient light, the curved dashboard which extends toward the driver and front passenger doors, creating an intimate sensation.

The Chevrolet Captiva Facelift is equipped with hill start assist and an electric parking brake, providing an extra space for storing several items in the center console, including two cup holders.

Chevrolet Captiva Facelift SUV offers many interesting and practical features at an affordable price: powerful and efficient engines, all-wheel drive and a spacious interior. The car is believed to be released in Europe in the spring of 2011.
