Mitsubishi launched its new Outlander hybrid model called 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV on the European market. The model can be powered from a normal outlet and can go full electric only 52 kilometers (32 miles). The total autonomy exceeds 800 kilometers (500 miles).
The Netherlands is the market with the largest “absorption” for vehicles with alternative propulsion in Europe. It was therefore natural for the Japanese car manufacturer to choose the Land of Tulips for the European debut of the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The new model is actually the hybrid version, fueled from the outlet, of the Japanese SUV, officially entered in production in late August at Okazaki plant near Nagoya.

The Netherlands is considered the largest market worldwide for the new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, given that orders were open from December last year. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi managed to collect 10,000 orders. The Hybrid version will be marketed on other European markets, next on the list being the Nordic countries, also big fans of alternative fuel vehicles.
2014 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has the same electric motors as i-MiEV the all-wheel drive system ensured by this system eliminates the drive shaft and the transfer box. Outlander PHEV has a 2.0 MIVEC engine, which assist the electric drive system when needed.
Mitsubishi says that the hybrid model automatically switches between EV modes, hybrid series and parallel hybrid depending on road conditions. The permanent electric traction system is called Twin Motor 4WD.
To keep alive the electric motor, 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV uses a 300V battery pack that can be charged within 5 hours from a normal socket and a 1.5 hours with a fast charger. The hybrid ensemble promises a maximum range of 824 kilometers (512 miles) with a full electric range of 52 kilometers (32 miles).
2014 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has mixed fuel consumption for the first 100 kilometers (62 miles) of just 1.9 liters (148.7 mpg Imp. / 123.8 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 44 g/km. Even so, the top speed is 170 km/h (105 mph).
