Audi released the first official pictures and information of the new generation Allroad, the 2012 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro. Based again on the A6 Avant, the new Allroad comes with a gasoline engine, three diesels and pneumatic suspension.
While the automotive press still discuss the Detroit Auto Show 2012 – the largest motor show from the beginning of the year, Audi decided to steal public’s interest with a new premiere. The manufacturer from Ingolstadt expands the A6 model’s range with a new derivative, the already known A6 Allroad, a success for previous generations.

2012 Audi A6 Allroad Engine
On the European market, the 2012 Audi A6 Allroad will be available with four engines, three diesels and a TFSI petrol engine.
The gasoline engine, a 3.0-liter V6 develops 310 horsepower (314 PS / 231 kW) and 440 Nm (324 lb/ft), resources that allow the off-road/station wagon to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.9 seconds. Given that the mass decreased by 70 kg (154 lbs) compared to the old generation, the 2012 Audi A6 Allroad achieves a low combined fuel economy, reaching only 8.9 litres/100 km (31.7 mpg imp, 26.4 mpg US).
All three diesel engines are based on the 3.0-liter V6. The TDI delivers 204 (207 PS / 152 kW), 245 (248 PS / 183 kW) and 313 horsepower (317 PS / 233 kW) in the twin-turbo version. The latter comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission that enables a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.6 seconds, up to a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
2012 Audi A6 Allroad vs. 2011 A6 Avant
With a length of 4.94 meters (194.5 in), 1.90 meters (74.8 in) wide and a height of 1.47 meters (57.9 in), the new 2012 Audi A6 Allroad is only a few millimeters (less than 1 inch) larger than the sw version of the A6. However, the new Allroad has a higher ground clearance: 60 mm (2.4 in), favoring its access to different types of terrain.
The customers receive a set of standard 18-inch wheels with 235/55 tires, but can opt for 19 or 20 inches wheels.
The main difference between the 2012 Audi A6 Allroad and 2011 A6 Avant is, however, the adaptive pneumatic suspension, which may lower the ground clearance by 15 mm (0.6 in) at high speeds and can rise it with 35 mm (1.4 in) at the push of a button. In exceptional circumstances, it may be raised by another 10 mm (0.4 in).
