Busy day in the automotive industry. Although summer is usually poor in news, this is not the case with this summer. After many hot presentations, next on the list of official releases is McLaren, who presented today the convertible version of its most sportiest model from its range: McLaren MP4-12C.

McLaren MP4-12C Spider – Summertime fun
McLaren MP4-12C Spider, announced last week by a photo-teaser, arrives with all the changes that the British engineers have recently made on the coupe version of the model. We talk about a 3.8-liter V8 biturbo engine developing 625 horsepower (466 kW/634 PS) and generating a maximum torque of 600 Nm (442.5 lb/ft) available between 3000 and 7000 rpm. The supercar has a 7-speed twin clutch SSG gearbox optimized for top performance.
According to the technical data provided by the manufacturer from Albion, McLaren MP4-12C Spider makes 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.1 seconds and 0-200 km/h (125 mph) in just 9.0 seconds. The maximum speed is 329 km/h (205 mph), 4 km/h (2.5 mph) less than the coupe version.
McLaren MP4-12C Spider has a retractable hard roof that is controlled by a button on the center console. It is operable at up to a speed of 30 km/h (20 mph), and total time of opening/closing is 17 seconds. Obviously, because the safety of the passengers must be maintained at high levels, McLaren placed protective metal arches behind the seats in case of overturning.
Other interesting options include perforated leather and Alcantara at the interior that can match three different environments (Diamond Cut, Standard Silver and Stealth), but also the Vehicle Lift system, which can raise the car’s front and/or back given it a higher ground clearance if necessary.
The McLaren MP4-12C Spider price in United Kingdom is £195,500 Pounds (about €245,000 Euros), 15% higher than the coupe version.
