The British high-performance vehicles manufacturer McLaren will bring at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show a new model announced by a teaser: McLaren 650S. The new model shall be placed between McLaren MP4-12C and McLaren P1.
McLaren is preparing to launch a new model. It was unveiled partially by a teaser that shows an interior ornament of a threshold, marked “650S” and will debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
McLaren 650S – First teaser between rumors and facts
Most likely, this is the “P13” project, ranged between MP4-12C and P1. The new McLaren 650S is designed for customers who want a dramatic but attractive design, in order to complete the luxury of the interior with the outstanding McLaren performance.
Given that the model’s name integrates “650”, we can expect the motorisation of the new model to be a version of the 650 horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine used in the McLaren MP4-12C range.
The McLaren 650S engine will be mated to a twin-clutche seven-speed transmission, which will ensure a sprint from 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in less than four seconds. The top speed of the future McLaren model is expected to be over 200 mph (320 km/h). Some sources from the brand announce a lower mass for the new McLaren 650S compared to MP4-12C, although no official confirmation in this regard is available.
McLaren MP4-12C can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds. If the chosen tires are Pirelli P Zero Corsa, the model gains another 0.2 seconds from the time mentioned above. Accelerating from 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) is carried out in 9.1 seconds with the standard tires, while equipped with the special Corsa tires, MP4-12C makes the same time in only 8.9 seconds.
