Lamborghini decided to no longer keep its fans breathless. The car manufacturer from Sant’Agata Bolognese unveiled the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, the folding roof version of its supreme supercar. This is the second modification of the current Aventador, after the Lamborghini Aventador J version presented this spring at the Geneva Motor Show and sold to a collector with 2.8 million dollars.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster – Design & Engine

The new , Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster comes with a removable carbon fiber roof. The great novelty is that this accessory weighs only 5.8 kg (12.8 lbs) and can be easily stored in the front compartment located under the hood. Due to the material from which it is built, it doesn’t add extra pounds to the supercar weight.

Because we are talking about a roadster which must comply with safety standards, Lamborghini has designed an improved passenger protection system and redesigned the last row of A pillars. In plus it has an electrically operated rear window and a deflector.

The rear remains identical to that of the coupe, the engine being covered with the same hexagonal housing that allows ventilation. Under it, we find the same engine: 6.5-liter V12, capable of producing 700 horsepower (522 kW/710 PS). The resources enable it to achieve a sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3 seconds, 0.1 seconds slower than the coupe brother, and it has a top speed of 350 km/h (218 mph).

The 12-cylinder engine comes with an 7-speed automatic gearbox, assisted by a cylinder deactivation system, backed by a start-stop system, both with the sole purpose to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions.

With the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, the Italians introduced a new bodywork color, named “Light Blue” inspired by an older shade, found in the color palette of Lamborghini Miura in 1968.

The aesthetic package is completed by a set of 20 inch wheels on front and 21-inch on rear, both aluminum forged, 10 kg lighter than the coupe version.
