Italdesign’s new supercar: a 5.2-liter V10 engine and 3.2 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h

The new Italdesign‘s supercar, the car design house owned by Volkswagen, will be announced in March at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, will be equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 engine from the Audi R8, according to some unofficial information.

About a month ago, the car design house Italdesign has revealed that it will unveil at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in mid-March a new supercar under its own brand.

The announcement was accompanied by a teaser and a suggestion that the new supercar will be available in only 5 units, but Autocar claims that they found out interesting details about the new model.

Thus, the new Italdesign supercar would be equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine, similar to that available on the latest Audi R8, which is not surprising given that Italdesign is owned by Volkswagen Group. Fpr the Audi R8, the drive unit is available in versions for 540 horsepower or 610 horsepower.

Autocar says that Italdesign supercar will go from 0 to 62 mph in only 3.2 seconds, the Audi R8 performance achieved from the 610 horsepower version, while the top speed is estimated at 205 mph – 330 km/h. In addition, the model will take over from R8 quattro all-wheel drive system, and the bodywork will be made of carbon fiber.

The source states that the starting price of the new supercar will be about € 1.5 million, but it could easily exceed €2 million with various customization options.

“For the first time we can offer collectors the chance to order a true made-to-measure car,” said Filippo Perini, Italdesign’s supercar project chief and head of innovation design. Perini added that every year from now on, the company will develop a new car bearing its own badge, “always in a very exclusive number of examples”.
