The Japanese automobile manufacturer is working on the new generation Subaru WRX sports model that will have electric or hybrid propulsion starting with 2020.
In October, Subaru introduced the Viziv Performance Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show, the prototype that prefigures the next generation of Subaru WRX.
The Japanese automaker claims that customer feedback was positive, so the design could remain almost unchanged for the final production version scheduled for launch in 2020.
At that time, the new generation Subaru WRX will have either electric or hybrid versions, according to the Japanese press release.
“We know that autonomous and connected technologies are appreciated by many customers, but we believe that not only do they want it. For many, the pleasure of driving is still very important, and we want to explore this opportunity. We will keep many of the elements that make up Subaru’s DNA. We want the car to look fast even when it’s parked,” explained Mamoru Ishii, chief designer of Subaru.
Although the Viziv Performance prototypfeatures the boxer and Symmetrical AWD, customers are particularly keen to see the latest generation WRX, according to the same Subaru official.
