2013 Seat Leon SC was officially presented by the Spanish, the three-door version of the new generation Seat Leon. The new Leon iteration, called SportCoupe, will be officially unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and. Opel Astra GTC and Renault Megane Coupe are the main competitors of Leon SC.
Seathas published a complete photo gallery and official press release about its new premiere which will be revealed in Geneva in March. We are talking about 2013 Seat Leon SC, the three-door coupe from the new generation Leon family. It seems that the Spaniards decided to tackle the C Class with a larger family, aware that success in this segment may be brought only by a five-door variant. Following the example of car manufacturers with experience, as Renault, Opel and Volkswagen, Seat decided to give its fans a sporty interpretation of the compact, with only three doors. As with current Ibiza SC, Leon receives the Sports Coupe abbreviation to be identified more easily.

2013 Seat Leon SC – Engines & Design & Prices
The new 2013 Seat Leon SC loses, as expected, the two rear doors but promises room for five passengers. Even so, things will be more crowded as the wheelbase is reduced by 35 mm (1.4 in). Also, the side windows take a new form, somewhat narrower. There are small differences on the rear tailgate where we have a little dive.
Designed to beat Renault Megane Coupe, Opel Astra GTC and Kia pro_cee’d, the 2013 Seat Leon SC will not however lose sight of the practicality of the compact.
That is precisely why it will be higher with 2 mm (0.08 in) in order not to affect rear passengers headroom, but also to provide a sufficiently large trunk at 380 liters (13.4 cu-ft).
Inside, Seat will copy the dashboard layout found on the five-door body variant. This means that passengers will enjoy the services of two climate zones and the multimedia system with an 5.8 inch touchscreen.
The engine range will include the same units found on its five-door brother.
For those who prefer petrol, the Iberians offer two versions of the 1.2 liter engine, one with 86 horsepower and one with 105 horsepower. Along with the two variants, comes the more popular 1.4-liter TSI engine that delivers 122 horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque (200 Nm).
In the near future, more precisely at the middle of this year (summer 2013), 2013 Seat Leon SC will receive a 1.8-liter TSI that will develop 180 horsepower.
For those who prefer diesel (mainly in Europe), Seat ensures the presence of the 1.6-liter TDI engine, available in two output versions, one of 90 hp and one for 105 horsepower. The latter will have a Start-Stop system, energy recovery system during braking and guarantees a mixed fuel economy of 3.8 litres/100 km (62 mpg US; 74.3 mpg imperial) and emits just 99 g/km CO2.
Two power versions will also be available for the 2.0 liter diesel engine. The TDI Ecomotive will deliver 150 horsepower, with 4.1 litres/100 km (57.4 mpg US; 69 mpg imperial) mixed fuel economy, and the second with 184 horsepower and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft).
Depending of the engine choice, 2013 Seat Leon SC is offered with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or a DSG dual-clutch automatic, 6- or 7-speed.
The drivetrain has a McPhearson suspension on the front axle and a torsion beam on the rear axle. Versions that develops over 150 horsepower receive but a multi-link suspension on the rear axle. The steering mechanism has also been revised for an improved response.
For the 2013 Seat Leon SC FR sports versions, customers will have three distinct driving modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport. Each will provide a predefined set of throttle, steering and engine.
In September (2013) the ST (wagon version) of Leon will be presented.
2013 Seat Leon SC price. Prices for the new Leon SC will be announced after the 2013 Geneva Motor Show debut, it will probably cost less than the five-door model. Prices ranging from £15-21k are anticipated, depending on engine and equipment level.
“The new Leon SC is the design icon of the model line-up. It conveys perfectly the core values of the SEAT brand – design and dynamics, technology and quality, all at a fair price,” says James Muir, President of SEAT S.A. “The story of the new Leon is very closely tied to the sheer fun of driving – without the driver having to sacrifice a high level of everyday usability. We have remained true to this successful principle for the Leon SC, too – and have refined it ever further in all key areas.”
“With its slightly shortened wheelbase, the Leon SC is the sportiest and most emotional member of the Leon family. It has the feel of a sports coupé, yet boasts an astonishing degree of functionality,” says Dr. Matthias Rabe, Vice President of Research and Development at SEAT S.A. “Through a great deal of fine tuning, we have been able to combine strong sporting character and precision handling with a considerable increase in comfort and convenience. The Leon SC is a further example of how SEAT uses the technologies of the Volkswagen Group to develop cars that are uniquely SEAT.”
“We have given the three-door Leon SC a highly distinctive character – just deleting two doors would not have been enough for us. That is why we opted for the shorter wheelbase – although it is only 35 millimetres, the visual effect is very powerful. The result is a big difference in the expression of dynamics,” says Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Head of SEAT Design. “The SEAT design language has been perfected in the new Leon. This is most evident in the characteristic lines – it is a car that has personality.”
