Renault released the first pictures and information with the new Mégane RS Trophy, a first extension of the performance hatchback.
Although it wasn’t expected until next week, the first derivative of the Megane Renaultsport 250 model was presented today. The French have revealed the first pictures and information of the Megane RS Trophy, a stronger interpretation of the the alternative standard.
The main novelties for Renault Megane RS Trophy are under the hood, where the four-cylinder engine was modified to deliver 265 horsepower and 360 Nm, 15 hp and 20 Nm in addition to what the series version offered. The torque couple is generous, between 3000 and 5000 revolutions and the turbine pressure increased from 2.0 to 2.5 bar.
The Renault Megane RS power contribution feels also at the level of performance, while acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h was improved by 0.1 seconds (6.0 seconds), like maximum speed, which now reaches up to 254 km/h. Even so, the French engineers were able to put their mark on consumption, which records in average cycle, a value of 8.2 liters per 100 km (0.2 l/100 km less than the basic version) and a quantity of emissions of 190 g / km.
Renault Megane RS Trophy keeps the Cup chassis and limited slip differential from the base model, but adopts a series of more efficient tires, more precisely a set of four tires Bridgestone Potenza RE050A inspired from Formula 1. The tires ensure a lower runtime noise, a better grip and stability.
On a visual level, Megane RS is individualized by the black roof that contrasts perfectly with the yellow body – Yellow Sirius. It has special vinyls, a rear spoiler, Gloss Black Steeve 19-inch wheels and red calipers.
Renault Megane RS Trophy customers receive LED lights and can choose of three types of body color: White Glacier, Etoile Black and Casiopee Grey. At the interior, the French kept Recaro seats and the same personalized attention, with specific logos.
