In order to better individualize, the new Renault Megane RS RB8 comes with lots of Red Bull Racing customization features at the bodywork, a new set of wheels, Bridgestone Potenza tires and an exclusive body color: Twilight Blue with Platinum Grey finishes.
For the interior, Renault and Red Bull Racing have prepared Recaro racing bucket seats, an R-Link infotainment system, a TomTom Live navigation and the latest version of the Renaultsport Monitor 2.0 special trip computer. As expected, we also found thresholds with Red Bull special inserts or floor mats, customized as well.
Under the Renault Megane RS RB8 bonnet there is the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine capable of delivering 250 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque (340 Nm). Just like the Cup version, on which the new RB8 is actually developed, this model has a limited slip differential, stiffer suspension and ventilated discs with Brembo calipers. The mixed fuel economy is 7.5 liters/100 km (37.6 mpg Imp. / 31.3 mpg US) and 174 g/km CO2 emissions.
By selecting the Sport program, without the Start/Stop system and EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), the 2.0-liter engine delivers an additional 15 horses (265 horsepower) the torque reaching now 265 pound-feet of torque (360 Nm).
RS RB8 special collector’s edition will be available in 26 countries with sales beginning in July. Renault Megane RS RB8 price will start from EUR 36,000 in France.
As Formula 1 Constructors’ world champion for the third year running with Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel, Renault is the only volume manufacturer to have beaten the automobile industry’s premium and specialist makes in motor racing’s premier series. Its record goes back much further than that, however. With 500 grand prix starts behind them, Renault engines boast an unrivalled record. Renault’s excellence as an engine supplier has harvested 151 race wins, 200 pole positions, 11 Constructors’ world titles and 10 Drivers’ world titles over a period of 35 years. This record is the fruit of work and skills which position Renault as a leading player in the world of race engines. Its success can be summed up in three words: performance, efficiency and strength.
