Peugeot RCZ-R is officially presented as a concept, that will be seen at 2012 Paris Motor Show, to show everyone how the performance version of the RCZ coupe will look. The modifications which will be made on future production model will be minor.
September 12th was a busy day at the Peugeot offices. After presenting the concept crossover 2008, the Onyx Concept supercar and the revealing of the official photos with the RCZ facelift, we have a fourth important premiere to be held at the 2012 Paris Motor Show: RCZ-R, a pre-production concept announcing the upcoming performance version of the French compact coupe.

Peugeot RCZ-R – Powerful engine
The new Peugeot RCZ-R is not just a very powerful car, but something more than that: it will become, in the second half of 2013, when it will be launched on the market, the most powerful automobile ever produced by the manufacturer of Sochaux.
With 260 horsepower squeezed out of a 1.6 liter THP turbo engine, which is the backbone of gasoline engines in the PSA Peugeot-Citroen Group, the new model will go straight into the history books of the French brand.
In addition to a more powerful engine than the best variant available now in the current RCZ range, the performance version of the French model comes with a modified chassis and a sportier behavior than ever before.
Customers that will get a copy of Peugeot RCZ-R will have available in standard a performance brake system, larger rims and, a Torsen limited slip differential which aims to fully improve the cornering behavior and limit the torque steer phenomenon, very common on models with powerful engines and front wheel drive.
At the aesthetic level, Peugeot RCZ-R borrows from the design lines of RCZ facelift and the exceptional exterior color from Onyx Concept that Peugeot will also display at their stand in Paris. We don’t have at the moment details about the improvements brought to the interior, but we expect that materials such as fine leather, aluminum or the carbon fiber – classic in terms of sport compacts – to be present in the RCZ-R series version.
“The 1.6 THP 260 bhp engine will turn RCZ-R in the most powerful production model in the history of Peugeot. A specific power of more than 160 HP/liter, among the highest in the world for a series model, and CO2 emissions of 155 g CO2/km places this model in a high efficiency range.”
