Paris Motor Show 2010: Porsche Carrera GTS

Described by Porsche manufacturers as being the sportiest 911, the new Porsche Carrera GTS is the most powerful version of Carrera ever created in Stuttgart and is offered in both coupe and convertible version.

The fireball has made its debut at Paris Motor Show 2010. Porsche 911 Carrera GTS is considered to be the “swan song” of the 997 generation, being the last version of this vehicle. Contrasting the fate of the GT2, GT3 and 911 S Turbo variants of 911 model in 997 generation, Carrera GTS is designed to emphasize its practical features, being a daily-use car. However, the power and performances of the vehicle are increased to a maximum level.

Porsche Carrera GTS is 4613 cm long, 1921 cm wide and 1166 cm tall. The trunk has a capacity of 76 l; so it is quite spacious. There are also other details that make Porsche Carrera GTS unique in its range: a modified front spoiler with a Sport Design splitter, new black thresholds, 19 inch RS Spyder rims, also painted in black and wide tires. Carrera GTS’s rims are covered by 235/35 tires on the front part and 305/35 on the rear side. Of course, “Carrera GTS” logo is present on the doors and bonnet.

On the other hand, the interior of the new Porsche Carrera GTS is also very special. The trim is a “black Alcantara”, while the steering wheel, the gear shift and handbrake lever are quite different from those of a Carrera S, being duplicates of the elements in the Sport Design customization program.

Porsche Carrera GTS is equipped with the 3.8-liter boxer engine of Carrera S and develops 408 bhp, while the maximum torque of 420 Nm is available with 4,200 rpm. The average consumption of this model is the same as in the case of Carrera S8.5-liters/100km.

The standard version of the Carrera GTS is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, but customers may opt for a seven-speed PDK transmission. The PDK variant possesses a steering wheel with flaps which may be used to change gears, offered together with the Sport Chrono Plus package. In Sport Plus system, the version of PDK Carrera GTS accelerates from 0-100 Km/h in 4.2 seconds, while the manual version of the Carrera GTS reaches the same distance in 4.6 seconds. However the maximum speed of the vehicle is 304 Km/h.

In Germany, the price of a Porsche Carrera GTS coupe is believed to start from 90.000 euros, while the convertible versions start at 100.000 euros.
