The 2013 Porsche Boxster body lines lend the philosophy seen in the Porsche 918 Spyder concept, using a set of new optical blocks, a little more muscular profile and an aggressive rear with a fake prominent spoiler. Inside, the interior of its big brother Porsche 911, served as inspiration.

The old boxer engine, the 2.9-liter unit, now has a smaller displacement, 2.7-liter, but with 10 horsepower in addition totaling 265 horsepower (198 kW / 269 PS). This “upgrade” favors acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), in just 5.7 seconds.

The 2013 Porsche Boxster S comes with the same 3.4-liter engine equipped with direct injection and 5 additional hp. With 315 horsepower (235 kW / 320 PS) under the bonnet, the German model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.0 seconds.

For both engine versions, Porsche offers as standard the 6-speed manual transmission and optionally the famous 7-speed PDK automatic transmission. This helps to achieve a fuel efficiency of 7.7 liters/100 km (36.7 MPG imperial, 30.6 MPG US) for the 2013 Porsche Boxster and 8 litres/100 km (35.3 MPG imperial, 29.4 MPG US) for the 2013 Porsche Boxster S.

To further enhance the driving dynamics, the Germans offer the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the 2013 Porsche Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also a novelty for a Boxster is the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear axle differential lock.

The 2013 Porsche Boxster models are expected in U.S. showrooms in early summer 2012. The basic list price will be $49,500 for the Boxster and $60,900 for the Boxster S, not including a $950 destination charge.
