Germans equipped the 2012 BMW M6 with a new V8 twin-turbo injection that delivers a maximum torque of 680 Nm (502 lb/ft) achieved between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm with no less than 560 bhp (418 kW / 568 PS), provided between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) is achieved in only 4.2 seconds, and the first kilometer (1.6 mi) is covered in 21.9 seconds.

The BMW M Performance range came with M550d, X5 M50d, X6 M50d and the M135i hot-hatch. The latter, although not a M pure-blood, will share the engine and gearbox with the old 1 Series M Coupe, but still, have several important changes.

The 2012 BMW M135i Concept has a 3.0-liter turbo engine which provides 320 horsepower (239 kW / 325 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb/ft) of torque, enough to raise claims as the 1 Series M Coupe big brother, in the performance area. With an approximate weight to 1500 kilograms (3300 lbs) and a report of 220 horsepower per ton (2200 lbs), the new M135i Concept accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds, ie as fast as 1 Series M Coupe. Developed in accordance with strict Euro 6 rules, proposed to take effect in 2014.

Another feature of the engine is the possibility to climb up to 5,400 rpm, a new feature for a diesel unit. The six-cylinder engine is assisted by a 6-speed automatic transmission, but also by the xDrive system and all the features of the EfficientDynamics technology.
