2013 Volvo V40 R-Design is for those who expected a more sportier aesthetic version of the Swedish sports car, model that will be presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The new 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design, that will also be present at 2012 Paris Motor Show, is an interesting alternative to the classic V40, changes being found especially at the aesthetic and chassis level. The new sports chassis enables the ground clearance to be lowered by 10 mm compared to the dynamic chassis available before in the Swedish manufacturer’s range, the road-holding also being firmer. Developed by the Volvo Polestar Black R team in collaboration with the Swedish driver Robert Dahlgren (WTCC, Formula 3 British, Swedish Touring Car Championship), the new chassis comes with anti-roll bars with sports diameter and improved suspension, the effect is – according to Volvo – an exemplary behavior on the roads with many turns.

2013 Volvo V40 R-Design – Modified design
At the aesthetic level, 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design gets a new front with a reshaped bar, and particularly the rear, where there is a new grille and an air diffuser flanked by two round tailpipes finished with metallic accents.
The rims are also part from a special set intended for the R-Design version of the Swedish model, available in two sizes: 17 or 18 inches. Icing on the cake is the dedicated Rebel Blue exterior color, which maintains the sporty look emphasized by the new aesthetic elements.
The interior also has interesting changes. If the full digital dashboard clocks can be accessed in three different modes on V40, (Elegance, Eco and Performance), each coming with its distinct color, on the 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design we have only a single color for the three layouts: light blue.
The sports seats are covered with a mixture of suede and perforated leather and are engraved with the R-Design logo, while the gear lever, handbrake lever and pedals are modified in this new version of the V40.
The aesthetic and technical R-Design package can be ordered by customers on any of the already available engines from Volvo V40, the smallest being a D2 diesel of 115 horsepower (86 kW/117 PS) and the biggest being a petrol T5 turbo engine of 254 horsepower (190 kW/258 PS).
“The 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design is designed for those who are oriented towards performance, with a passion for things that add a little spice to life” (Lex Kerssemakers – Volvo Product Vice-president).
