2013 Volkswagen Scirocco GTS – design, technology, engines

2013 Volkswagen Scirocco GTS is offered with several engines, the most powerful version being equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI, which develops 210 hp. Regardless of engine, the model has 18-inch alloy wheels, special designed side skirts, a red and black bonnet and red mirror caps. For the 210 hp version, Volkswagen Scirocco GTS has brake calipers painted all red.

The 2.0-liter TSI engine with 210 HP (157 kW/213 PS) reaches its full capacity at 5,300 rpm and offers a maximum torque of 280 Nm (207 lb/ft) at 1,700 rpm. In the case of 2013 Volkswagen Scirocco GTS with a six-speed manual transmission, the sports car needs 6.9 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph), while maximum speed is 240 km/h (150 mph). The average fuel consumption for this version is 7.4 liters/100 km (38.2 mpg imperial, 31.8 mpg US).

If the buyer chooses a DSG transmissions for the 2.0-liter TSI 210 hp Scirocco GTS, the fuel consumption increase by 0.1 liters/100 km, while the speed decreases by 2 km/h, without affecting the sprint from 0-100 km/h.

The interior presents a set of aluminum ornaments with the GTS inscription, black leather upholstery with red stitching, GTS embroidered seats and aluminum pedals. But the “icing on the cake” regarding the 2013 Volkswagen Scirocco GTS interior is the gear shift knob, which looks like a golf ball, element that appeared on the first Golf GTI and on the first Volkswagen Scirocco GTS.

Is a bit too much if you ask me, Volkswagen “creates” a new car per day. It gives them each a special color, new wheels + 5 hp and they’re ready to go… GTS, CROSS… yesterday was Golf 6 Cross. Tomorrow what will be? Phaeton GTI? How about the day after tomorrow? Touareg R-LINE? There is already a 2013 Scirocco R, what is the purpose of GTS? I bet any owner of a Scirocco R will be envious of the “balls” from the gear shift or the red threaded seats from a GTS.
