In order to properly say goodbye to the current C06 and to celebrate 60 years from the production of the first Corvette, Chevrolet launched a special edition – 2013 Chevy Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition.
While awaiting the next generation Corvette C7, Chevrolet has decided to properly celebrate the 60 years spent in this segment by the sports model, with a special edition. Named 2013 Chevy Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition, the anniversary version is actually a swan song for the current Chevy Corvette C06, scheduled to leave the production this year. Along with the special edition, customers can order the 60th Anniversary Package, available this year on any Corvette.

According to official release, the new 2013 Chevy Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition manages to combine elements from the current Z06 and ZR1 in order “to create the fastest and most-capable Corvette’s convertible in history.”
“We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate these milestones than bringing back one of the most-coveted combinations in the brand’s history – the Corvette convertible and a 427 cubic-inch engine.”

The propulsion is provided by the 7.0 liter (427-cubic-inch) V8 engine capable of producing 513 horsepower (520 PS / 383 kW) and a torque of 637 Nm (470 lb/ft), managed with a 6-speed manual transmission. The resources are sent to the rear axle and the roadholding is controlled by the Magnetic Selective Ride Control system and the Michelin PS2 tires mounted on 20 inch wheels.
With only 1522 kilograms (3355 lbs) total weight and 513 horsepower, the 2013 Chevy Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph – and the quarter-mile time in 11.8 seconds) in less than four seconds and can run up to a maximum speed of 305 km/h (190 mph – with lateral acceleration of 1.04 G).

The 60th Anniversary Package comes with a special color for the bodywork, Arctic White, but also for the interior where the upholstery is in Blue Diamond shade, like the fabric roof. Also on the inside, the anniversary package brings a new steering wheel and the 60th Anniversary logo embossed on the headrests. It has a spoiler borrowed from the ZR1, special logos, calipers painted in gray and blue Peral Silver stripes streaking through throughout the bodywork.
The 60th Anniversary Package and 427 Convertible made their public debut at the Barrett Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Jan 21, and will arrive at U.S. Chevrolet dealers early this summer. The first 2013 Chevy Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition manufactured by General Motors Co. was sold for $600,000.
