Mercedes will introduce in 2014 a new four-door coupe to be positioned under the current CLS. It will be based on future B-Klasse architecture (Mercedes BLS) and will use the new MFA platform.

German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has big plans regarding the launch of new models, and a smaller version of the current CLS can grasp in the future ideas of the Germans. According to company sources, Mercedes will produce a baby CLS” to be based on future B-Class. According to the same sources, the new Mercedes BLS four-door coupe will see the daylight in 2014.

2014 Mercedes BLS will take its design elements from the current CLS and the F800 Concept shown at Geneva 2010, and the global architecture will belong to the new Mercedes philosophy. At the basis of the future German model will be the new MFA platform with front wheel drive. Regarding the future engines that could animate a four-door coupe, the solution could come from Renault.

The French manufacturer could offer supercharged petrol engines of 1.4 and 1.8 liters, but the flagship models will have a Mercedes 1.8-liter gasoline engines of 203 horse-and 2.2-liter 170-hp diesel. Power will be transmitted to the front axle through a manual six reports or using a dual-clutch automatic transmission with seven gears. Thanks to the new MFA platform, in the future we might see a Mercedes BLS hybrid version.
