Peugeot 308 GTI will be powered by a 250 hp Engine

The next Peugeot 308 GTI prepared by France’s best men will come packed with around 250 hp and chances are that we’ll even get a darker brother, Peugeot 308 R 270 hp.

The new Peugeot 308 will soon benefit from a hot version wearing the famous GTI logo. The car was already surprised many times in tests and its final form is now near completion. There’s still a mystery regarding engine power but this French hothatch should surprise us.

An official Peugeot representitive gave the first indication about the strength of the future Peugeot 308 GTi in an interview for British Top Gear. Christophe Valet said that the future Peugeot 308 GTI will be powered by an engine that will develop about 250 hp. The model will have a lower ground clearance, improved suspension elements, different bumpers, 19-inch wheels and a revised steering system.

“We will create specific high-line versions of our cars. For example the 208 GTi and RCZ R. There is room for a 308 R that uses the same engine as the concept car at Frankfurt.” General Director, Maxime Picat

Besides a new Peugeot 308 Gti, a model that will attempt to combine performance with comfort, Peugeot wants to produce an extreme version named 308 R, based on the concept shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall. This model will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine and the power delivered will be somewhere around 270 hp and 330 Nm.
