Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake was officially presented by the Germans, in a series of pictures and information, as the performance version of the estate model, that feels like a coupe.
After a series of images leaked on the Internet last week, Mercedes and the AMG performance division decided to publish a set of official photos and information with the new CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake. The newest member of the sports range receives the 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 engine, able to develop two versions of power. Besides the engine, it comes with an 7-speed AMG Speedshift MCT gearbox and the latest generation Start-Stop system.

Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake ‘s customers will benefit from 525 horsepower (392 kW/532 PS) and 700 Nm (516 lb/ft), sufficient resources to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds. For those in a hurry, Mercedes also offers a special edition release called Edition 1, which comes with 32 additional horsepower, the V8 unit total capacity climbing to 557 hp (415 kW/565 PS) and 800 Nm (590 lb/ft).
With the AMG gearbox, the Special Edition accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. For both power versions the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Due to the Start-Stop system and other changes made on the 8-cylinder unit, Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake promises 10.1 litres/100 km (28 mpg imperial, 23.3 mpg US) of fuel consumption and emissions of 235 g/km.
To ensure an exemplary roadholding, the Germans have equipped the car with an intelligent AMG Ride Control suspension, which reduces roll and continuously calculates the driving conditions. The suspension has Comfort, Sport and Sport + modes, which guarantees three different driving experience, coupled with an ESP system with three operating levels.
The 500 horsepower are kept under control with a braking system which includes 360 mm perforated discs, hidden behind the 19-inch wheels, on which were mounted special tires (255/35 front and 285/30 back).
The new Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake has a front spoiler with large air intakes and an oversized grille, AMG bonnet, intelligent lighting LEDs, a rear diffuser and dual exhaust pipes.
The car will be exposed at the Paris Motor Show 2012, the first deliveries being scheduled for October.
