Nobody knows what it’s called, how it looks and how much the next Lamborghini Centenario supercar will costs. With a release scheduled for March, but all 40 copies prepared for production have already been sold.
Lamborghini is preparing a new supercar to launch in March to mark 100 years since the birth of the brand’s founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini. The manufacturer has not yet provided any images or details about the new supercar, so it came to be known to the press as Lamborghini Centenario. The only certainty is that the new model will be produced in only 40 copies, of which 20 convertible and 20 coupe.
Despite these minimal details, the British Autocar reports that all 40 copies were already sold before any official details about the name, performance and price. However, there are numerous information sources indicating a price 2.2 million for a supercar that will use a modified version of the 6.5 liter V12 engine available on Aventador. The propulsion unit would total about 760 hp.
“It will be a mix between a technology demonstration and a car legal on the streets, what is important for people who will buy it” are the only clues offered by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini.
He admitted that although you may see this new supercar in the streets, the new Lambo is especially dedicated to collectors who will store it home for 100 more years. “On on one hand is for collectors and for those who love the brand and they want to celebrate in this way, but the other part is for our team that wants to prove it is capable of technical innovation”, he added.
