The French has released today a teaser image of the future Citroen Cactus, that will be presented at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
In mid-August, Citroen announced that it will unveil at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 10-22 September) the first model of its new C-Line range. For those who are not familiar with the direction where the French car manufacturer is heading, note that Frederic Banzet, Citroen CEO, announced since last year that Citroen will unveil a new line of products with an affordable and competitive price, but it doesn’t aim to compete with the low-cost Dacia brand.
Citroen Cactus – the first model from the new Citroen C-Line range
The new Citroen C-Line range actually represents a slightly lower repositioning of Citroen versus Peugeot, but will try to grow in terms of brand value.
To prepare the ground, Citroen have launched a teaser announcing the French premiere. Although there aren’t much official information, the image gives the impression that the model, called Citroen Cactus, just like the concept presented in 2007 in Frankfurt, comes with plastic elements in the bodywork, LED lights and alloy wheels with a futuristic design.
The new C-Line will seek to provide a balance between costs and functionality. The first product will be a replacement for the current Citroen C3. The new model will rely on a bold design, but also on absolute simplicity, already anticipated in 2010 by the Lacoste concept. The bold design philosophy and simplicity will be taken then by the entire C-Line range.
Along with the teaser, the French published a short video announcing the introduction of AirBump technology on the new Citroen Cactus. The bumpers will be built using this technology and will be able to pass smoothly over light impacts, such as those with a shopping cart.
Citroen Cactus will be guided by the “pure, simple and clever” philosophy, more information and images will be revealed on September 5th, just before the official opening of the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013.
