BMW 3 Series Touring techical specifications
Despite its practical look, BMW 3 Series Touring comes with the same dynamic design that debuted on the sedan version. The elongated, muscular silhouette is now completed by a strong back. BMW 3 Series Touring is 97 millimeters (3.82 in) longer than the normal version. The wheelbase has also increased by 50 mm (2 in). These figures translate into more space for passengers and luggage.
The luggage compartment now has a volume of 495 liters (17.5 ft³) – 35 liters more than the sedan’s trunk. The space can be increased by folding the rear seat, which comes with a 40:20:40 split backrest. For a more practical access to the trunk, the rear window can be opened separately, and the hatch is electrically operated. The boot load base is flat and the distance from the ground is 62 cm (24.5 in) to easy load heavier objects. The luggage compartment can be separated from that of passengers through a net, and under the trunk floor we have a usable space for storing various objects. The electric the hatch can be operated without hands. The Smart Opener feature lets you open the trunk with a flick of the foot under the rear spoiler.
At the launch, there will be available three engine versions for the 3 Series Touring: 328i, 330d and 320d. The first customers of the BMW 3 Series Touring can choose between two diesel and a petrol. All three engines use TwinPower Turbo technology. The petrol engine is new, has four-cylinder and develops 245 hp at 5,000 rpm. The 245 hp are enough for a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) electronically limited and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) made ??in 6 seconds.
All engines meet the Euro 5 emissions as standard. If desired, the two-liter diesel engine can be modified to fit the Euro 6 standards. The transmission is provided by a six-speed manual gearbox, or by the new eight-speed automatic gearbox. Both transmission variants have Start/Stop function to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.
In the future three more engine variants will follow: 320i, 318d and 316d.
The new BMW 3 Series Touring can be ordered with the M Sport suspension or with the M Sport adaptive suspension. There will be three equipment levels for the new 3 Series Touring. They are: Sports Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line. Each line has a particular equipment.
Sport Line – emphasizes the dynamic behavior of the model. The radiator grille has eight horizontal lines, and decorative elements have glossy black finishes. The interior is characterized by black and red elements. The Luxury Line brings chrome elements to underline elegance. The front grille has 11 horizontal lines. The door frames are also chromed unlike the black ones from the Sport Line models. Inside we find wood inserts. The Modern Line prefers brushed aluminum elements. The front grille has also 11 horizontal lines. Of course there is also an M Sport package. Equipped with elements of this package, the BMW 3 Series Touring becomes a car inspired by the world of motor racing. Together with this package a special Estoril Blue body color is available.
