2014 Seat Leon ST was presented trough an official picture gallery and press release, the third body version of the Iberian compact. Public debut is scheduled for 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Seat Leon will receive a ST version at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. At the official presentation, the Spaniards presented an official photo gallery of the model, confirming thus the complete gallery of its new compact, leaked a day before on the internet. 2014 Seat Leon ST is the first estate version in the Seat history.
2014 Seat Leon ST – Design & Engine & MPG
The MQB modular platform used by Volkswagen Golf 7 and Skoda Octavia 3 is also used by the 2014 Seat Leon ST. Unlike the other two compact SW, Leon ST doesn’t boasts with a luggage compartment bigger than 600 liters (21.2 ft³), the Iberian estate providing only 587 liters (20.7 ft³) – 1,470 liters (51.9 ft³) with the rear seats folded down – compared to the 605 liters (21.4 ft³) of the Golf 7 Variant, and 610 liters (21.5 ft³) of Octavia 3 Combi.
In terms of design, the new body version of Leon brings no surprise. The front takes a the hatchback’s fascia and gets a rear body adapted to the new version. The result is a Leon who seems to be artificially lengthened, but the final look of the model is not disgraceful. Most likely, the 2014 Seat Leon ST will have the same interior, engine range and technologies as the hatchback version.
The technical sophistication of the 2014 Seat Leon ST is further enhanced by the optional full LED headlights combined with the rear LED headlights. The design of Leon ST continues on the new design line of Seat. The drivability is precise and dynamic, just like Leon 5d and Leon SC.
The extended hi-tech options such as full LED headlights, adding for the first time the Adaptive Cruise Control ACC, the Adaptive Chassis Control DCC and the Progressive Steering – a high level of control in sports driving conditions.
2014 Seat Leon will be available with a wide range of TSI and TDI engines from 1,200 cc to 2,000 cc, performance from 86 to 184 horsepower. All engines feature direct injection and turbo, with a mixed fuel consumption reduced by 22% compared to the previous generation. The 1.200cc engine will be available in two versions of 86 and 105 horsepower, fitted with Start/Stop. The 105 hp version has a mixed fuel consumption of 4.9 l/100 km (57.6 mpg Imp./ 48.0 mpg US) and 114 g/km CO2 emission.
Next we find the 1.4 TSI with 90kW (122PS) and 1.4 TSI with 103kW (140PS) with a mixed fuel consumption of only 5.3 liters/100 km (53.3 mpg Imp./ 44.4 mpg US). Top of the gasoline range is the version 1.8 TSI 132kW (180PS) and 250 Nm of torque. Later they will add the 2.0-liter TSI and the new 1.400cc TSI with cylinder deactivation system.
The most powerful engine available on the 2014 Seat Leon ST is 2.0-liter TDI with 135kW (184PS) and 380 Nm torque, available exclusively for the FR version, boasting with a mixed fuel consumption of just 4.3 liters/100 km (65.7 mpg Imp./ 54.7 mpg US) with CO2 emission of just 112 g/km.
