2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will be the most powerful sedan in the Germans range and will debut in the first quarter of 2014, starting with January for orders. Inside sources claim that it has a turbocharged V12 that delivers 630 horsepower and 1,000 Nm.
Following the new generation S63 AMG, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will be presented in November at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show (November 22 – December 1st, Los Angeles Convention Center). The 2014 North American International Auto Show (13-26 January, Cobo Center in Detroit) will be the place where the new generation S600 will be presented.
2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG – Design & Engine & MPG
2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, the most powerful version of the S-Class range, will debut in the first trimester of 2014. The model comes with a supercharged V12 engine (most likely a 6.0-liter) that will develop 630 horsepower, according to some sources within Mercedes-Benz, cited by Mercedes-Benz Passionblog.
The same source reports a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), matted with a AMG Speedshift MCT 7G transmission. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than four seconds, perfectly feasible since the S63 AMG requires 4.4 seconds for the sprint. Top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph).
The mixed fuel consumption (NEDC cycle) is estimated at 11.6 liter/100 km (24.3 mpg Imp. / 20.2 mpg US), which is pretty good, if you ask me, for this impressive engine.
Just as the versions equipped with V8 engines, 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will be offered with the Magic Body Control system. The system consists of a camera mounted in the windshield which “scans” the road ahead and it changes the suspension settings automatically, either individually or all wheels through in fractions of seconds, in order to ensure a stable and comfortable ride.
With the new S65 AMG, Mercedes-Benz could launch the new S600. The model might use a less powerful version of the V12 engine from the S65 AMG. At present, the current S600 delivers 510 horsepower and accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. The most powerful S-Class offered, until the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will be launched, is S63 AMG, model that develops 585 horsepower, has a mixed fuel consumption of 10.1 liters/100km (27.9 mpg Imp. / 23.3 mpg US) and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
