2013 BMW Z4 Facelift – Putting a Smile on your Face

In 2013 we mark four years since the launch of the 2013 BMW Z4 generation, so Bavarians have prepared a small restyling for BMW Z4, bundled with some changes on the technical level. Here’s what’s new on the facelift for 2013 BMW Z4 Roadster.

2013 BMW Z4 Facelift Specs

The second-generation BMW Z4 was considered more successful in terms of design than the first Z4, created during Bangle era, which drew some criticism for its appearance, but not for its technical side. That’s what the Bavarians took as a challenge, creating in 2013 a car perfect on both levels.

Not long ago, based on the BMW Z4, the guys from Zagato created two highly successful concepts, named simply BMW Zagato Roadster and BMW Zagato Coupe (which, incidentally, gave fans hope for a new Z4 Coupe). Sad thing though, as fans now expected from BMW Z4 facelift a very visible change in attitude. Bavarians, however, have retained their discretion policy, launching in 2013 the facelift version of the BMW Z4.

For starters, BMW has released images with its top version, BMW Z4 sDrive35is, benefiting from an aesthetic package improved from the previous version: The famous “Angel Eyes” now benefit from LED technology (both headlamps and taillights), new front wings ornaments or newly designed wheels that now go up to 18 inches.

Bavarian designers decided not to make any design changes and only improved the materials & overall aspect. BMW Z4 facelift also comes with a Hyper Orange custom package, which means black Alcantara leather seating with contrasting orange stitching, and various ornaments such as metal inserts on the dashboard or a high-gloss plastic for door handles and gear shifter.

2013 BMW Z4 Specs

The biggest change is under the bonnet, as entry-level version is the BMW Z4 sDrive18i introducing a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of delivering 156 bhp and 240 Nm of torque. You can choose from a 6-speed manual gearbox or the 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW Z4 goes from 0 to 62mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds with the manual transmission and 8.1 with the automatic shifter. Top speed is 137mph (221 km/h) and mixed fuel efficiency was set at 41.5 mpg (6.8 litres/100km).

BMW Z4 facelift made its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and sales will begin in the spring of 2013. On March 5, at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 we will take a closer look at the European version of Z4 facelift and announce all official prices.
