Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new king among the fastest series models: Hennessey Venom GT, which managed to overthrow the Bugatti Veyron, after a two-mile sprint on a runway in Leemore, California. Bugatti now has some serious explaining to do and we look forward to its new variant.
Hennessey Venom GT Specs
Powered by a 7 liter V8 engine that produces 1,244 hp and 1155 torque, the Spartan Hennessey Venom GT reached a top speed of 427.6 km/h (265mph) and broke the old record set by the Bugatti Veyron.
According to Hennessey officials, the 4.66 kilometers of track were not enough for the Venom GT to achieve maximum speed and claim that the car may be even more faster in other conditions. Venom GT was not faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport model, which recorded a speed of 431 km/h back in 2010.
President and founder of Hennessey Performance, John Hennessey, explains why Venom GT is the fastest production model currently on the market, as the Bugatti models limits their maximum speed to 415 km/h, which is not applied on the Venom GT. Although the model that set the record was only the seventh Henessey produced, the manufacturer plans to launch a total of 29 Venom GT models at a starting price of $ 1.2 million a piece.
