Lamborghini says that the new Urus SUV will triple the annual production and over 50% copies of this model will be sold in the United States of America.
Lamborghini Urus – or LB736, as it is called internally – will be a very important model for the manufacturer from Sant’Agata Bolognese. Under the careful management of Volkswagen, Lamborghini hopes to triple the annual production with this new model. At this time, the Lamborghini range consists only of Aventador and Gallardo supercars.

The Italians much sought a third model to increase sales. It was long thought that Lamborghini will introduce a four-door performance model into mass production, based on the 2008 Estoque concept, but they decided that the future of brand will be based on a performance SUV.
It is true, this kind of models has proven to be successful. Porsche is perhaps the best example, Cayenne virtually saving the Stuttgart manufacturer and became the best selling model from its range. Recently, even Bentley has announced intentions to enter on the SUV territory through the EXP 9 F concept presented at Geneva Motor Show 2012.
The President and CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann said that the current market for supersport models with two doors and powers over 400 bhp is going well now, but it predicts a future decline. Urus will shelter Lamborghini from that.
Most likely, Lamborghini Urus SUV will go into production sometime in 2015 and will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine plus a hybrid system. The total power will be somewhere around 600 hp. A series Lamborghini Urus will cost over $ 200,000 and will probably be made in about 3,000 units per year, over 50% of this production will be sold in the United States of America, said Winkelmann.
