Dacia Duster has been nominated the 2013 SUV for its towing trailers capabilities.
During the 2013 Towcar Awards, given to cars that turn out to be the most suitable for towing a trailer, the Duster won first place in the “4×4 budget car” category.
The performance was attributed to a diesel 1.5 dCi 110 horsepower, all-wheel drive and Ambiance equipment level. The jury described the Duster as “perfect for towing a car and with a very low price. The label is not an error. For how much you pay on a Kia Rio three-door 4×4 Dacia gives a five-seater. Duster is undoubtedly a bargain,” argued the jurors.
Those who have reviewed the submitted models had to check several features. The challenges od the contest included acceleration tests of 50 to 95 km / h, the braking test from 50 to 0 km / h, starting on a slope, emergency changing of the lane. Among the tests, there were also taken into consideration the towing capabilities, how easily was the trailer and special mirrors attached, the spare wheel’s usefulness, and the qualities of the car (luggage capacity, passenger space, comfort, efficiency).
Duster competed in the category of vehicles with a weight of up to 1424 kg, alongside fearful models. Also in this category, Kia Cee’d Sportswagon won the award for the Best Ultra-light tow car.
There were other categories as well, also separate by weight: 1425-1579 kg winner – the Volkswagen Passat, 1580-1724 kg winner – the BMW 3 Series Touring, from 1725 to 1899 kg winner – the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, and over 1,900 pounds – the Land Rover Discovery 4.
