Alfa Romeo will receive a new reorganization plan. This time, the Italian car manufacturer will prepare to launch seven new models by 2018.
Alfa Romeo will receive seven new models in the coming years, according to sources from the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The Italian car automaker will benefit from these releases to increase sales in order to return to profit. If Alfa Romeo wants to return as a significant player to the auto market, industry experts say that their sales should increase five times compared to the 2013 results.
Alfa Romeo – The new marketing strategy
The plan set for Alfa Romeo requires the launch of a Spider convertible in 2016, followed by the sedan and station wagon versions of the Giulia model in 2017 and Alfetta in 2018. Whereas Alfa Romeo Giulia model will fight in the mid class premium segment, Alfa Romeo Alfetta will rival the segment E premium brands.
The Alfa Romeo release list also includes two crossovers. One model will be a compact SUV, while the second will belong in the D or E segment. The two models will be launched in 2017, respectively in 2018. Excluding the crossovers, Alfa Romeo will launch its new models on a new platform, with rear wheel drive. That new architecture is called Giorgio. The new technical platform will also be used by the new Dodge and Chrysler models.
Most likely, Alfa Romeo MiTo and Alfa Romeo Giulietta will not receive successors as fast as originally planned, with the possibility that both models may be taken out of production without being replaced by new generations.
Alfa Romeo has sold nearly 100,000 units in 2013, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles expecting sales of 500,000 units per year. the inside anonymous source didn’t mentioned the deadline until Alfa Romeo must obtain the expected sales results. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles representatives declined to comment on this information, preferring to wait until the official release, scheduled for May 6th 2014.
All the new models will be also sold on the North American market, where Alfa Romeo hope to gain significant volume to compensate for the poor situation on the European market.
