Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo’s CEO has confirmed the launch of Volvo XC90’s successor in 2014 by offering 3 new sketches. The new Swedish SUV will make its debut in the second half of 2014.
2014 Volvo XC90 Specs
The new generation of 2014 Volvo XC90 will have a new platform, new engines, new technology and a different design. In addition to conventional engines, internal combustion platform can accommodate hybrid systems. The new 2014 Volvo XC90 will be an important release because it is the first Swedish manufacturer creation developed from scratch under new leadership, the Chinese Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
The platform is officially called SPA (Scaleable Platform Architecture), it is made of modules and will accommodate all Volvo production models of mid-upper segment from the new generation, and the new XC90 and S80 models will be the first to benefit from SPA in this range. Thus, SPA platform will be found on the new S60, V70, XC60 and S80, all will benefit from the contribution of a modern production factory and improved technology.
In addition to the new platform, the future 2014 Volvo XC90 will be equipped with the new generation of engines from Volvo, called VEA, all with four-cylinders, turbocharged and supercharged. The engine range of the new 2014 Volvo XC90 will have both otto and diesel engines, while the hybrid version will be developed together with Siemens.
2014 Volvo XC90 Design
In terms of 2014 Volvo XC90’s design, Volvo officials have already presented three sketches with futuristic aesthetics, each towards a different direction. Swedish demanded for public opinion at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show by presenting these drawings and they’ll remain opened to new ideas. Their range is backed by a number of models with a unique design, all launched after Volvo XC90 appeared on the market.
