2013 World Car of the Year – Top Finalists

2013 World Car of the Year has its finalists announced in preparation for the 2013 World Car Awards gala hosted by the 2013 New York International Auto Show and Bridgestone Corporation on March 28.

2013 World Car of the Year, World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year will all be declared Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the New York International Auto Show. The top three finalists in all award categories will be announced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show on March 5th.

World Car of the Year announced the finalists of the 2013 edition. As before, we have ten models finalist in two categories: World Car of the Year and World Performance Car. Green Car of the Year category will be disputed between five models which will be analyzed by the WCOTY experts and their proposals will later be judged by an expert jury. The award for the World Car Design of the Year will be granted following a decision by a jury formed by five experts.

2013 World Car of the Year marks a double nomination for the Subaru BRZ / Toyota GT86 and Porsche Boxster / Cayman models, competing in two categories: World Car of the Year and World Performance Car.

World Car of the Year

The jury consists of 66 known international automotive journalists representing several major markets: Asia, Europe, North America, as well as other parts of the world, selected the top ten finalists in both categories (2013 World Car of the Year, 2013 World Performance Car) by secret ballot, based on their experience with each vehicle as part of their professional work. The eligible automobile for the awards must be available on at least one major market during the 01/01/2012 and 05/30/2013 period.
