Paris Motor Show 2010: Hyundai ix20

Hyundai presents this year, at Paris Motor Show, the world premiere of the new B-class MPV, named Hyundai ix20.

The new Hyundai variant is not a “minivan box”, as many believed, adopting, actually a very dynamic look and a sporty profile- confirming the brand’s reputation of a progressive, modern manufacturer.

Created in the European design center of Germany, the new Hyundai ix20 is the second European model after Hyundai ix35 that embraces a new fluid and simple design language. The denomination of Hyundai ix20 reflects the versatility of a newfangled crossover vehicle, which is intended to provide a pleasant driving experience for the whole family. Although at first the manufacturers questioned the use of letter “x” in the name of the vehicle, Hyundai officials said that the badge would be found on all models, not just one those with four-wheel drive. For the off-road vehicles, the Korean manufacturers will use number “5”- as in the new Hyundai ix35.

Hyundai ix20 promises to have the lowest fuel consumption in its class and also, low carbon dioxide emissions. The range of engines for Hyundai ix20 includes a gasoline engine of 1.6 liter developing 125 bhp and a smaller 1.4-liter unit releasing 89 bhp. At this moment there are indications that Hyundai ix20 will also be available in a diesel variant.

Hyundai ix20 customers will benefit from the Five Year Triple Care Warranty Program developed by the brand. Moreover, the car will be equipped with Bluetooth, ESP and a Start/Stop system for lower fuel consumption. In terms of safety, Hyundai will accept no compromise, ix20 obtaining five stars in EuroNCAP tests.

Hyundai has exposed at Paris Motor Show 2010 edition its latest “green” technologies regarding the Blue Drive initiative. The brand desires to become leader in the eco auto industry. Therefore, the vehicles displayed at Paris Motor Show reflect their objective. Moreover, the brand has expanded its exhibiting space by 66 percent in this Motor Show edition in order to expose a wide range of products.

The new Hyundai ix20 will take the place of Hyundai Matrix, and the basic price will be around 15.000 euros.
