According to official data provided by Ford the C -Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid version will be better in terms of “savings” in the electric mode than equivalent plug-in version of Toyota Prius. The overall autonomy will be 800 kilometers (500 miles) better than Chevrolet Volt hybrid series version.

Both versions use a hybrid system consisting of a four-cylinder engine of 2.0 liters and an electric engine powered by a lithium-ion battery. The two motors can work independently or together, depending on the driving mode selected by the driver and the battery charge status.

The new Ford C-Max Hybrid and Ford C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid bring a wide number of technical novelties in the Ford range, which will enter in future in the equipment level of other series models.

Here we include the tailgate opening sensors just by simply placing a leg under the rear bumper. The new-generation SmartGauge with EcoGuide and Brake Coachin appears, that actually is an indicator which shows instantly to the driver how efficient it drives, what to change in order to consume less and how to use the KERS system in order for the battery to remain fully charged as long as possible.

According to data provided by the Americans, Ford C-Max Hybrid charge its battery using 95% of the energy generated at braking which at the non-hybrid cars is lost.
